After the events of Azume, Sena has a somewhat difficult decision to make. He can't exactly bring his Pokemon back with him, like some of the others are - after all, his world is full of perfectly normal creatures! Who knows what people would do with such strange animals, or the knowledge that there are other worlds out there! Sena, with his hyperactive imagination, balks at the possibilities (mostly involving Hiruma). At the same time, he doesn't want to leave his companions behind - they've been together for months, and it's impossible to not be attached.

Luckily, it turns out that Team Galactic/Dialga & Palkia/whomever is in charge has no problem with arranging things so that Sena can travel in between worlds, so he decides to do that: living most of his life in his homeworld with his own responsibilities and coming over to the Pokemon world to play together with his team whenever he can spare the energy. Which is surprisingly quite a bit - there's even periods of time where Sena practically runs on the same "two day work one day sleep" schedule he'd gotten acclimated to during the Death March! Yikes!

Sena usually leaves his Pokemon with Emmeryn at her ranch (sorry, Duma) when he's not in the Pokemon world, and after the events of the World Cup, he decides to pursue his goals with even more fervor. He'd always been interested in seeing how football was played in the Pokemon world, and decides to test his own skills by first attempting the Sinnoh Gym Challenge during the rest of his high school years. When he's invited to play at Nortre Dame in his final high school year and finally becomes the real Eyeshield 21, he also decides to take the chance to challenge the Sinnoh Elite Four and Cynthia. Unfortunately, he doesn't succeed.

When Sena enters college in his own home world, he decides he's finally ready to travel to Unova and test his skills at Pokemon-style football as well. The day he leaves, he even manages to settle things with Jupiter by finally winning in a battle against her (she shows up unannounced, despite never actually answering his letters). They're friends(?) now. Or rivals. At least.

Three years after the events of Azume, Sena finds himself sucked into an Ultra Hole and dropped into the anime-based world - on Melemele Island some time after the first ever Alolan Championships, in fact! This starts the events of Fallers, in which Sena eventually finds himself leading a group of Ultra Hole-based dimension hoppers called the Ultra Riders for Lusamine. It's during this time that he catches Taka, a Pheromosa, and gains a Volcarona, Vol, for a Ride Pokemon. When the events at Fallers come to a close, he still remains a member of the Ultra Riders, and gets to keep the various memorabilia he gained as a member (Vol, the Ride Buckle that lets him open Ultra Holes and don the sentai-like suit it generates, and I.Z.U., an AI assistant who acts as a secondary commander).

Anyways, Sena's currently working on making a name for himself both in Unova and at college, occasionally hopping through Ultra Holes whenever Lusamine needs the Ultra Riders to investigate something.

His team remains largely unchanged from his time in Azume and Fallers, save for Yan evolving into a Yanmega. Taka and Vol do not play on his main team, and are mostly reserved for Ultra Rider missions. However, they both can act as backup members for whatever reason.

Thanks to the Devil Bats specializing in trick plays, Sena's battle style revolves around utilizing Double Team in offensive and tricky combinations based on football tactics, as well as utilizing his own team's natural speed to heighten their effectiveness. His main specialty is double and triple battling.

i wrote four pages of battle and then decided that was long enough for a snippet. post-battle explanations and shenanigans can be in the next one. writing sena battles is hard but fun.

(a/n) i just wanted to get some headcanons out of my brain before i lost them...anyways here's a segment from the time when sena accidentally prevented the bad end unova plot, because the idea of azume-verse pokeworld nearly bad-ending itself frequently starting with sinnoh is a very funny concept, sorry.

anyways proofreading is for people with sleep schedules and aren't using fic snippets as breaks from writing essays tbh

i can't html it's just a list

Designation M-51, Sena Kobayakawa is your average Japanese first year high school student. Except for the fact that he can run faster than most professional athletes and plays American Football under the (no longer secret) identity of Eyeshield 21. But that's neither here nor there since he's been transported to Sinnoh and stranded there. Thanks for that, guys.

 Monta (Infernape)
  • Male
  • Hasty nature
  • Good perseverance.
The Pokémon assigned to him by Team Galactic. Is slowly starting to show more interest in mimicing Sena's attempts to keep in shape, and also has a tendency to "catch" attacks when training. Oddly appropriate, since he nicknamed it after his best friend. Has been acting more impatiently and impulsively over the past few weeks, and also has very little sense of personal boundaries. Evolved on week 6 while travelling thorugh routes 216 & 217, and again on week 20 in Floaroma Town. Wears a white scarf.

Vee (Jolteon)
  • Female
  • Naive nature
  • Strongly defiant.
Sena and Monta accidentally ran into and injured this Pokémon while running outside of Veilstone. After they treated and fed it, the Eevee decided to follow them, seemingly out of inertia. It's gained a habit of eating out of Sena's plate due to him hand-feeding it when they first met. Takes things at face value, so she's a little slow on the uptake. Is starting to become a little more stubborn and has decided that Monta is a "dumb-dumb" thanks to Duma. Sometimes bites Monta's tail when she thinks he's going overboard. Wears a (slightly chewed) Pecha Berry shaped hairclip behind one ear. Evolved in week 13 when she raided the box of evolutionary items given to the group some time prior.

Nin (Ninjask)
  • Female
  • Timid nature
  • Likes to fight.
This Pokemon hatched out of the egg given to him by the Pastoria City citizens. She doesn't seem inclined to do much, so Sena has started having her ride on his shoulder or cling onto his back while running with Vee and Monta. Has started threateningly brandishing claws at things, but due to her clingy nature it often just looks like she's waving. Wears a small pink bow around her neck small pink hair barrette. Evolved on week 10 when training in Floraoma Town. Seems to enjoy battles more after evolving.

Shell (Shedinja)
  • Genderless
  • Timid nature
  • Likes to fight.
After Nin evolved, her leftover shell suddenly gained a conscience of the eldritch persuasion. Doesn't seem to do much other than float, but it stays close to Sena whenever possible. Wears Nin's old pink bow (which conveniently covers up that eerie soul stealing hole on its back). Seems to be the calmer, shyer equivalent to Nin's fightey-biteyness; has started expressing a Michael-like sense of humor.

Portus (Alakazam)
  • Male
  • Serious nature
  • Often dozes off.
Caught by Sena in Eterna Forest after his constant teleporting pissed off Monta enough to nail him with a Mach Punch. Spends most of his time asleep, but still manages to teleport away at the slightest touch regardless. Eventually calms down with the constant teleporting, but still seems to use it in slightly trollish ways (usually when Sena's other party members are acting up). Wears a blue neckerchief. Evolved during Week 16 at the Oreburg mines, and again on Week 25 by trading for Emmeryn's Duskclops - turned- Dusknoir, Forseti.

Yan (Yanmega, shiny)
  • Female
  • Jolly nature
  • Thoroughly cunning.
Caught by Sena outside Hearthome City after Nin wouldn't stop harassing it during a training session. He thinks it might be because of its odd coloring, but really, he can't be sure...especially since it's still very much emotionless at the moment. Is slowly starting to be more carefree and seems to enjoy flying with Nin despite the constant harassment - if anything, she seems to welcome it and even fights back in a playful manner. Fully recovers personality after the end of events in Azume, and starts properly bonding with the team as Sena travels through Sinnoh on his gym challenge, ends up evolving during said challenge. Wears the Shiny Charm that was obtained at the Spooky House.

Taka (Pheromosa)
  • Genderless
  • Serious nature
  • Often lost in thought.
Caught by Sena in the Orre Region when he was sent there on a mission for Lusamine. After battling off some Rainbow Rocket grunts together with Leon, Sena found the Pheromosa guarding the Fighting and Insect Plates, and caught it after a fierce battle with Monta. An imposing, tall figure, it doesn't seem to move much - except when it does. It seems to find interest in observing Sena and his companions, and nurtures a small rivalry with Monta after being defeated at his hands. As an Ultra Beast, it's a little too powerful for Sena to use in official matches, but it does accompany him on Ultra Rider missions, and it does enjoy playing football with the rest of his team. It seems to enjoy picking up and holding small Pokemon and people (yes, Sena still counts as small. Apparently.) It wears a small necklace modeled after an Akala-Island styled Z-Ring around its neck.

Vol (Volcarona)
  • Male
  • Timid nature
  • Quick to flee.
Given to Sena by Lusamine to act as his Ride Pokemon during Ultra Rider missions, Vol was officially made part of his team at the end of his stint at Fallers as a kind of farewell gift. Sena doesn't actually ride Vol directly, instead the Volcarona grabs onto a small harness equipped to his Ultra Ride suit and acts as a kind of jetpack. As such, Vol fights somewhat differently compared to the rest of Sena's team - instead of directly following football-like plays, Vol follows the motions of a human body, acting as a kind of boost to Sena's own speed and physical prowess. While Vol understands the rules and strategems used in football matches and Pokemon battles, he prefers to play as an extension of Sena. Wears a pink flower barrette shaped like a hibiscus.
